Indie MMO Spotlight: Hytale It Outta Here

Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, Hytale Update 6 goes live, Once Human follows up the console launch with a new expansion, and RotMG teases Month of the Mad God. Plenty of other stuff is also going on, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

Afterglow

Version 1.4.0 is now available in Google Play and the Apple App Store . Changes include new enemies, additional tier 2 accessories, and new skills.

Broken Ranks

The August 2026 Dev Blog was posted this week. The main topic of the post is changes to defensive skills . The post also covers the economy, specifically the influx of gold and how to balance the increase with its removal from the economy.

Corepunk

The team is hard at work resolving bugs and issues from the addition of control points the previous week. This week’s patch cleans up a lot of the issues, allowing them to get back to work on the Game Master and War update.

Drakantos

The August Devlog was posted this week. The post touches on the player market, custom games, reworks, and much more.

Embers Adrift

The August Monthly Patch was released this week. The biggest change is the ability for characters to learn 3 professions at once. Don’t forget to check out this week’s Loreytime with Drindin below.

Fractured Online

The playtest is now set for September 3rd. The test will focus on core game systems, network stress test, and updated SFX/VFX.

Hollowed Oath

Patch V0.23 was released this week. Quest objectives will now show up on the compass and minimap, climbing looks better, and NPCs got some attention.

Hytale

Update 6 is now live. The update includes the In-game Mod Browser, Hardcore modes, and a bunch of build tools.

Once Human

Once Human is now live on consoles . With the console release in the rear view, the team has released a trailer for the next expansion: Isles of Abyss.

Palia

Patch 0.206 - Fall’s Faire: Petals & Portraits is now live. The patch adds the first Civic Project , giving all Palians a chance to work together to rebuild Kilima’s docks. Other additions include a new mount, the Valhast, new Bulletin Board quests, new decor, and new options in Photo Mode.

Profane

The next playtest will be held mid September. Players can expect the Necrostone Armor, the first artifact being introduced into the game, the new Swamp biome, and new combat proficiencies.

Realm of the Mad God

The Month of the Mad God is near, and a new teaser trailer has been released.

Scars of Honor

Firstwatch recruitment is now open . The new community advisory and testing program will allow players to help shape the future of Scars of Honor.

Wild Terra 2: New Lands

There is another round of server mergers coming up. Seasonal Wild server will be merging with Hades, Iris is merging with Astra, and Lux will merge with Gaia on September 1st.
